Birds, possums and other pests often nest in the protected space beneath solar panels. This can lead to droppings, nesting material, blocked gutters, water ingress and damage to exposed cabling. We install a secure 304-grade stainless-steel mesh barrier around the edge of your solar array to help prevent pests from getting underneath. The mesh maintains airflow beneath the panels and is secured using purpose-built clips, with no drilling into the panels or panel frames.
This warranty-conscious installation method is designed to avoid permanent alterations to the solar panels and help protect the conditions of the manufacturer’s warranty.

You can’t see it from the ground, so most people don’t know it’s happening. Once a colony settles in, the damage adds up quietly — here’s what’s going on up there.
Acidic droppings damage panels
Bird droppings are acidic. Left to bake on, they stain and etch the glass, your roof tiles and Colorbond — marks that don’t wash off.
Nesting blocks airflow
Droppings and nesting debris block the airflow under your panels. They run hotter, and a hot panel quietly loses production every sunny day.
Fire hazard risk
Dry nesting material packed against cabling is a genuine fire risk. Birds and rodents chew through cables and bring mites, lice and the smell with them.
Costly repairs
Pigeon and possum droppings wash straight into your gutters and downpipes. Blocked gutters overflow, and that overflow finds its way into the roof and the property itself — which is where a bird problem turns into a repair bill.

Clear & sanitise
Every nest, dropping and bit of debris is removed and bagged. We sanitise the cavity so nothing’s left to attract the next lot.
Clip the mesh
304-grade stainless-steel mesh, clipped around the panel-frame perimeter. Designed to help stop birds and pests accessing the cavity under your panels. Clips to the frame, never drilled.
Final check & tidy
We walk every edge, clean up after ourselves, and check the mesh is sitting flush. If something is not right after we leave, we come back and fix it.

No. It’s exclusion, not harm. We clear the cavity out humanely and seal it so the birds move on and nest somewhere they’re meant to — a tree, not your roof.
No. The mesh is clipped to the panel frame perimeter — no drilling into the panels themselves, and no alteration to the electrical system. The mesh can be removed for servicing if needed.
Yes. The mesh is fully removable — it lifts off in minutes for a clean or a service call, then clips straight back. Nothing’s permanent except the protection.
We use 304-grade stainless-steel mesh. It is a corrosion-resistant stainless grade that stands up to the heat, rain and humidity South East Queensland roofs deal with. Plastic mesh goes brittle in the sun, and bare steel rusts out — leaving rust streaks down your roof and a barrier that no longer does its job.
